17:04Now PlayingOn the big story, today we discuss the Supreme Court's response to the Centre's insistence on implementing the farm laws. The Supreme Court, on farmer's plea to repeal the new farm laws, finally spoke and expressed its discontentment and disappointment with the way the Centre handled the issue. They questioned the Government's motives behind forcing the stay of the farm laws despite the grueling circumstances and the delicate situation. 'Why doesn't the Centre put the new farm laws on hold?', questions the top Court. The supreme court also mentioned that they cannot pass any orders to make the protesting farmers immediately vacate the Delhi borders, however, they have asked the farmers to back the elderly women and children owing to the risk of the ongoing pandemic. The Government perhaps didn't expect this response from the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice of India has clearly stated that the Centre has not done enough to address the farmer's grievances. The Supreme court has also given the Centre an ultimatum of sorts, asking them to either hold the farm laws or the Supremes court would have to do so.
