24:50Now PlayingOn the Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla, today we discuss how after a tremendous year of loss and hopelessness in the country, we finally have received a ray of hope in the form of Covid-19 Vaccines, however the ongoing debates revolving around the credibility and safety of these vaccines have sent the country into yet another risky spiral. The vaccine although has been set to roll out, plans are made along with blueprints. Lists of people who shall be first recieving the vaccine have been made, however, people are questioning the safety associated with these miraculous Vaccines and the Government is failing to produce proofs which has put everyone in a sticky situation.
Just 3 days ahead of the vaccine drive, concerns are raised over the mix up of dosages of the 2 approved brands, which by the way, is a legitimate concern around what if the first dose is of Covaxin and Covishield is the second?
'Preference will be for the vaccine which has more data, Covaxin will be considered in situations where Serum Institute's vaccine is too difficult to acquire' spoke Dr Subramanian Swaminathan, Director, Infectious Diseases Gleneagles Global.
The Dean at Indian College of Physicians, Lilavati Hospital says that currently, in the Phase1 of vaccine distribution, it is unlikely that people will have any say on choosing the vaccine. However, both the vaccines are safe.
