The CoWIN application, being used to tally beneficiaries, glitched through the day, slowing the inoculation process in the state on January 16. Authorities in Maharashtra said that there were no connection issues when it was tested earlier. The vaccine drive suffered setbacks on the first day and therefore, the Maharashtra government decided to temporarily suspend the first phase of the COVID vaccine drive in the entire state to resolve the issues with CoWIN App before continuing with the drive.
