The West Bengal chief minister would contest the upcoming Bengal polls from two seats, the other one being Bhabanipur, an assembly constituency in Kolkata. Banerjee made the announcement while addressing a public rally in Nandigram stating that Trinamool would return to power by winning the upcoming elections and said she was not worried about her party leaders who are jumping over to the BJP. It is important to note that, Suvendu Adhikari, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in December 2019, had registered an emphatic win in West Bengal elections 2016 as a TMC candidate.
