10:08Now PlayingFresh cases of COVID-19 are now being reported from the state of Maharashtra. Over 6,000 cases and 44 deaths have been reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. This is the first time that a surge in COVID cases from Maharashtra has been reported since December 2020. Out of the 6,000 cases, close to 800 cases were reported from the maximum city. Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar has called for an emergency meeting in order to tackle the situation. An urgent meeting was earlier called by CM Uddhav Thackeray, and weekend lockdown were imposed in the most affected districts of Amravati and Akoli.
