2:13Now PlayingPunjab continues to have the country's highest Covid fatality rate (CFR). The situation has improved marginally this month, with the CFR dropping to 3.1 (deaths per 100 cases) from 3.23 the previous month. It is, however, more than double the national average of 1.4.
Punjab is preceded by Maharashtra (2.3), Sikkim (2.2), Himachal Pradesh (1.7), Chandigarh (1.6), Jammu, and Kashmir (1.5), and Haryana on the CFR list (1.1). Experts, on the other hand, attribute the high mortality rate to a large population of comorbidities. In the meantime, the state has agreed to make changes to the essential care protocol. In certain cases, it has been agreed to recommend Tocilizumab.
