3:35Now PlayingMaharashtra experienced one of the largest single-day spikes in coronavirus cases on Wednesday. According to a Maharashtra government bulletin, the state reported 39,544 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 28,12,980.
Over the same 24-hour span, Maharashtra also saw 227 new COVID-19 deaths, raising the state's overall death toll from SARS-CoV-2 to 54,649. On Wednesday, a total of 23,600 recoveries were registered, taking the total number of recovered cases to 24,00,727. On Sunday, Maharashtra saw the largest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, with 40,414 cases.
