2:25Now PlayingThe Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has agreed to launch an Oxygen bed facility at the Covid Care Centres (CCC) being set up across the city, as demand for beds continues to rise due to the surge in Covid-19 infections.
The city already has a ventilator bed shortage for critical patients, and patients in need have been struggling to get ventilator care in any of the city's hospitals in recent days. There were no empty Ventilator beds on the PMC dashboard as of Tuesday morning, out of a total of 493 reserved for treating Covid patients. Only 5 of the 432 ICU beds without ventilators were available, even after the jumbo Covid hospital on CoEP grounds increased its bed size.
