This came just one day after more than 150 bodies were discovered floating in the Ganga in Bihar. According to locals, there was no wood available for cremation, so many of the bodies were dumped in the river. Locals have said that due to a shortage of firewood, people who are dying are being thrown into the Gangas.
On Sunday, residents in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district saw dozens of bodies floating in the Yamuna River, causing panic among the locals as speculation grew that the bodies were those of villagers who died of coronavirus.
