55:05Now PlayingOn The Urban Debate today, Tanvi Shukla today tune into the covid death data discussion. The Supreme Court of India has ordered the Centre to compensate the families of the deceased and formulate accurate data of the death toll due to covid-19. In addition, the apex court also mandated a death certificate to show the exact cause of death. The covid death compensation plea sought Rs 4 Lakh ex-gratia to the deceased kin. A massive debate over the mismatch of death data across India leads to this SC verdict. In this light, the Centre has offered to determine the ex-gratia amount, but the SC disagrees with the government’s no ex-gratia view. The top bench has given a 6-week ultimatum to the Centre to formulate guidelines and organize this covid death chaos.
