1:30Now PlayingOn Wednesday, an expert panel of India's central drug authority advised against allowing the Serum Institute of India (SII) to perform a phase 2/3 study of the Covid-19 vaccine Covovax on children aged two to seventeen years. On Monday, the SII applied to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for approval to conduct a Covovax trial on 920 children, 460 each in the 12-17 and 2-11 age categories, at ten sites. However, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation's Subject Expert Committee declined the request, claiming that Covovax has not been approved in any country.
