Parliamentarians from the United Democratic Front (UDF) have previously been denied access to the island. The administration stated in its letter that the purpose of the visit is political action, and that the permit is being denied because their visit to the islands for political activities will disrupt the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the islands, as well as the general public's, public order, and security of the union territory. The MPs' written request for a visit is to do a fact-check on the impact of administrative initiatives and reforms under the current administrator of Lakshadweep.
