41:36Now PlayingOn The Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla, we mourn the death of Father Stan Swamy. 84-year old UAPA accused was denied basic dignity, he was suffering from Parkinson's and was denied bail even during the pandemic. Father Swamy passed away at 1:30pm this afternoon at the Holy Family Hospital in Mumbai. He was a tribal rights activist who spent his 60 years in central India and was working with the poor there. Controversies have sparked over his death, and many have questioned the judicial stance on his death. “He was not afforded basic access to dignity, to right to life, to right to health. This is state-sponsored murder, this is an abdication of responsibility of a judiciary which did not do right by Father Stan Swamy,” says Trisha Shetty, Advocate. Watch the video to know more.
