2:24Now PlayingCovishield, a vaccine developed by the Serum Institute of India, has yet to be approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) (SII). In an email, the European Union (EU) medicines agency said, "We have not received any marketing authorisation application for Covishield, nor is this vaccine under rolling assessment by the EMA." Sputnik V, Covovax, CureVac, and Sinovac are the four vaccines now under consideration by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). According to a SII official knowledgeable with the regulatory procedure, the business requested for Covishield approval through AstraZeneca. Because AstraZeneca's vaccine, which has the same formulation as Covishield and has previously been licensed by the UK and European Medicines Agency, Serum Institute expected clearance within a month.
