12:05Now PlayingThe Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government after taking suo motu cognizance of a report on the state government's decision to allow the "Kanwar Yatra." The petition was scheduled for hearing on Friday by a bench led by Justice R F Nariman. While the Yogi Adityanath government has allowed the yatra to begin on July 25, despite worries from many sectors that such events could provoke a probable third wave of COVID-19, the kanwar yatra in Uttarakhand has been suspended. The yatra will be held from July 25 to August 6 this year, according to UP Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order, Prashant Kumar.
