Annamalai, along with many others, was seen at a gathering without mask or social distancing. The gathering was held to celebrate the appointment of K. Annamalai as the new BJP president for the state of Tamil Nadu. Hundreds of BJP workers were seen gathered there. Tamil Nadu was one of the worst hit states when the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.
