Colonel Santosh Babu, who sacrificed his life while fighting for his nation against the Chinese troops, has been awarded by Mahavir Chakra at the Defence Investiture Ceremony in the national capital. The wife and mother of Colonel Babu received the award on his behalf. Havildar K Palani, Naib Subedar Nuduram Soren, Sepoy Gurtej Singh and Naik Deepak Singh are also receiving Vir Chakras (Posthumously) for their brave actions against Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley under the operation snow Leopard.
