The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, tabled in Rajya Sabha by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was passed by Parliament amid din by the opposition. The Bill, which seeks to amend the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act of 1957, was cleared by the Lok Sabha on March 30. It proposes to merge the three municipal bodies -- North, East and South -- in Delhi, ten years after the trifurcation of the civic body.
