The third bomb discovered in Godaulia failed to detonate. On Saturday, sixteen years after serial bomb bombings rocked the holy city of Varanasi, terrorist Waliullah was found guilty in two counts by a Ghaziabad court. On March 7, 2006, bombs exploded in the Sankat Mochan temple and the cantonment railway station, killing at least 20 people and injuring over 100 more. Jitendra Kumar Sinha, a District Sessions Judge, found Waliullah guilty in two instances filed under the IPC provisions of murder, attempted murder, and mutilation, as well as the Explosives Act.
