3:54Now PlayingThe Ministry of Defence has published a notification modifying the rules for the nomination of the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The Army, Navy, and Air Force service regulations will be amended to make serving three-star commanders and retired three- and four-star officers eligible for appointment as the next CDS. According to the announcement, the government may examine officers who are serving as Lieutenant General equivalents, General equivalents, or officers who have retired in the rank of Lt Gen or Gen but have not reached the age of 62. The Chief of Defence Staff's post was one of the most significant military reforms, resulting in greater coordination between the government and the armed forces.
