3:26Now PlayingAs a large number of SFI members assembled for a sit-in protest against Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, the vice chancellor appointment controversy in Kerala has intensified. Vice-chancellors (VC) of nine universities received a show-cause notice from the governor recently requesting them to resign. Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister, charged the governor with acting against the interests of the state and abusing his position of authority during a press conference that was conducted in response to the governor's notice requesting the resignation of the VCs. A similar protest movement was started by the Students Federation of India (SFI), which first staged candlelight vigils on college campuses and unfurled giant university banners opposing the governor. The Left Student Organization has demanded that the Governor be fired from his position as university chancellor.
