8:30Now PlayingIn a horrifying tragedy that occurred on Sunday evening, a cable suspension bridge they were strolling on broke, sending hundreds of people plunging into the Machchuu river in Gujarat's Morbi district. More than 130 people have died, and numerous teams from the SDRF, NDRF, Indian Army, and even the Coast Guard have been sent in to provide assistance. On October 26, the bridge from the British era reopened to the public following a six-month repair. There were 400–500 people on the bridge at the time of the tragedy, and hundreds of them were thrown into the river when it collapsed. There are numerous images and videos showing individuals swimming or clinging onto the bridge's wires to guide themselves to safety.
