8:01Now PlayingPrime Minister Narendra Modi came under fire from the Congress today for participating in a 'political roadshow' and breaking the code of conduct while en-route to Ahmedabad to cast his ballot in the second round of the Gujarat Assembly elections. The Grand Old Party also questioned the 'total silence and total inaction' of the Election Commission of India. According to senior Congress leader Pawan Khera, "the Government, the party, the administration, the election machinery, everything is rolled into one in Gujarat." Mr. Khera claimed that despite several representations made by his party to the electoral commission at various levels, it appears that the election watchdog is 'willingly under pressure.' PM Modi's dramatic entrance to the polling place to the crowd's applause has drawn criticism from the Congress and other Opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress.
