He argued for a "national alliance" that also includes the grand old party to compete with the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. Stalin also praised Rahul Gandhi, calling him the "perfect antidote" to the "parochial" tactics of the BJP.

“Congress has become venomous for India," said BJP's Narayanan Thirupathy. Mr Thirupathy calls Congress "anti-India".
"It was Mr Stalin who in 2018 announced that Rahul Gandhi will be the face of opposition & PM candidate, " said Congress' S V Ramani.
