More than 4,000 people have been evacuated from 600+ houses. The next step is demolition. Ahead of the demolition drive, locals are staging protests in the town. Tomorrow, January 11, a demolition drive will begin in the 'sinking' town of Joshimath to raze the residences and buildings prone to collapse. So far, 678 Joshimath homes have developed cracks, and 81 families have been temporarily relocated to safer areas. Authorities in the area have identified unsafe and dangerous structures and marked them with red cross (X) symbols.
