The pillar of the new metro line collapsed near the Hennur area of Bengaluru, near the ring road, on Tuesday. Three people were said to have been seriously injured in the incident. Heavy traffic piled up in the area after the incident took place. Commuters have reportedly staged a protest near the incident site. As per the reports, the woman's husband was also injured in the incident. The woman and her child died in the hospital while being treated for their injuries.
