2:18Now PlayingThe Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting a series of raids on NCP leader Hasan Mushrif's house and several other locations in connection with the Sugarmill Scam allegedly related to fraudulently taking control of a sugar factory in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra through a private firm. The raids have been denounced and called a political vengeance by NCP. The ED organised numerous teams that are currently searching Mushrif and his associates' homes and workplaces in Kolhapur and Pune. When MVA was in power in 2021, Mushrif was the target of related accusations from his political adversaries. Regarding the alleged fraudulent control of the sugar factory at the time, no cheating cases (predicate offences) were recorded. Only when there is a predicate offence can the ED open an inquiry into money laundering.
