5:32Now Playingover 4000 residents were evacuated from the 'sinking' Joshimath, city of Uttarakhand. 723 families will receive compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh per family. Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti is sitting on a dharna for over a week now against the government-owned power producer NTPC alleging its Tapovan-Vishnugad project has contributed to the further weakening of Joshimath's already brittle foundations as it is situated on landslide debris.
