According to Congressman Pawan Kheda, "This proves that under the Modi Raj, everyone would require a firearms licence. I won't comment, let's all get weapons licences." PR chairman Pawan Khera urged that the developing issue in Joshimath be called a national crisis and questioned why the Centre took so long to recognise it.
