He was addressing at a gathering in the Yadgiri area of northern Karnataka. The Prime Minister is visiting Karnataka for a second time this month to lay the cornerstone and dedicate a slew of construction projects worth more than Rs 10,800 crores in the districts of Yadgiri and Kalaburagi. In Yadgiri, PM Modi said, "We brought development and good governance to those districts that were declared backwards by the past governments." When the Jal Jeevan Mission began 3.5 years ago, just 3 crore of the 18 crore rural families had access to running water. Approximately 11 crore rural families in the nation now have access to tap water, he continued.
