2:22Now PlayingAlphabet, Google's parent company, announced plans to lay off 12,000 people, or 6% of its global workforce, citing a memo shared by CEO Sundar Pichai. The news came as yet another shock to the tech industry, which has seen massive layoffs for some time. With the layoffs, Google joins a slew of other tech behemoths that have drastically reduced operations in the face of a faltering global economy and rising inflation. Pichai told employees in an email on Friday that the job cuts would affect the entire company and that he accepts "full responsibility for the decisions that led us here."
