Rijiju was speaking at a celebration for the 74th Republic Day put on by the Delhi Bar Association at Tis Hazari Courts. Judges are only ever appointed, and they are not subject to election. Judges are not even subject to public scrutiny. Although the public cannot alter judges, it does scrutinise them, their decisions, and how they administer justice. The public is observing everything and making judgements. In the era of social media, nothing is hidden, according to Rijiju. A few panelists join us. “Law Minister KirenRijiju must be under pressure to tone down, what he has been saying about Judiciary,” says Gopal Sankaranarayanan, Senior Advocate.
