25:02Now PlayingIn this episode of The Urban Debate, the host Shreya Dhoundial will be discussing how on Thursday night, a significant fire unintentionally started on the 22nd story of the residential building R A Residency in Dadar, Central Mumbai. No casualties have been recorded as of yet. At 8:00 p.m., the fire initially started on the 22nd level of the structure and afterwards spread to other portions of it, generating an explosion of gases and smoke clouds. To put out the fire, the fire crew was on the scene right away. Initially, the incident was contained to an electrical panel on the 42-story building's 22nd floor. The fire initially emerged as a level-2 (medium) category, but it quickly grew and became a major level fire (level 4) in a matter of hours. We are joined by a few panelists who will be expressing their views on this issue. “Every high rise building has to be installed with fire evacuation lifts. But builders are not complying with it,” says Deepak Monga, Fire Safety & Evacuation Expert. “Society and people have to be vigilant,” says Ravindra Punde, Founder Partner Design Cell. “We need to take correct preventive measures. Buildings needs to ensure that their equipments are in working order,” says Indrani Malkani, V Citizens Action Network (VCAN).
