2:13Now PlayingThe US Geological Service reported a 7.8-magnitude earthquake near Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey on Monday. The quake occurred at 04:17 a.m. local time (0117 GMT) at a depth of approximately 17.9 kilometers (11 miles). The magnitude of the quake was 7.4 according to AFAD, the government's disaster management agency. About 15 minutes later, the USGS reported another shallow 6.7-magnitude quake near the first. Gaziantep's southern region, one of Turkey's key industrial and manufacturing hubs, borders Syria. According to AFP correspondents, the tremors were felt in Lebanon, Syria, and Cyprus. Although Turkish authorities have not yet reported any deaths or injuries, videos posted on social media show destroyed buildings in several cities in the country's southeast.
