8:41Now PlayingIn this segment of Urban Debate with Shreya Dhoundial, the anchor will be discussing on the matter of what Turkey and Syria are going through. More than 24 hours have passed since Turkey and Syria were rocked by multiple earthquakes, More than 5,000 people have lost their lives and thousands of buildings were destroyed in the earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria on Monday. Rescue efforts are being hampered by aftershocks, subfreezing temperatures, and damaged roads. The World Health Organization issued a warning that there could be more than 20,000 casualties as the scope of the 7.8 magnitude tremor's destruction continued to become clear. A second earthquake, this one of 7.7 magnitude, occurred on Monday and halted initial rescue efforts. According to Adelheid Marschang, a senior emergency officer for the WHO, the earthquake is anticipated to have an impact on 23 million people, including 1.4 million children.
