According to reports, AAP mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi and others filed the petition after the Delhi Municipal House adjourned for the third time without holding the election. In order to prevent the mayoral elections, the BJP and the AAP have traded accusations. The main points of contention between the two parties are the appointment of aldermen and their ability to vote in the House. The AAP accused the BJP of attempting to steal its mandate by granting voting rights to nominated members.
