32:03Now PlayingIn this episode of Beyond The Headline, the host Tamanna Inamdar will be discussing how Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), lashed out at the Election Commission, calling for its dissolution after the central body gave the CM Eknath Shinde faction the Sena emblem and name. On Monday, the Shiv Sena party's Uddhav Thackeray-led faction filed a lawsuit against the Election Commission's judgment. When senior attorney AM Singhvi brought up the plea while speaking on behalf of the Uddhav side, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud ordered him to bring it up again tomorrow. The Supreme Court will also hear on the merits a group of cases pertaining to the political repercussions in Maharashtra due to the Shiv Sena's split on Tuesday. Days after being recognized by the Election Commission, the Shiv Sena group headed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took control of the party's office in the legislative building on Monday. A few panelists join us. "Under the garb of allotting symbol, I don't think ElectionCommission has the right to decide how parties should be run," says Sanjay Hegde, Senior Advocate. "The legacy for what BalasahebThackeray stood - that's where EknathShinde suits better than #UddhavBalasahebThackeray," says Political Analyst, S S Sriram.
