A bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice of India said that the 'case is of seminal importance.' The CJI also recommended that a larger bench attend to the matter. The hearing will now take place on April 1. Meanwhile, the Centre has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying that matters such as these need to be discussed by the Parliament. India legalized homosexuality in 2018 and multiple petitions have now been filed demanding that same sex marriages also be legalized in the country.
