8:19Now PlayingEarlier, The Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya held a meeting with the Airlines Consultative Group on Monday after people continuously complained on social media regarding the sudden skyrocketing of domestic airline ticket prices. Post the meeting, the Union Minister appealed to the airline company owners to keep the ticket prices in check but the prices have continued to stay more than 50% higher. The NRIs visiting India from Dubai have complained that they are paying much higher to fly within India than they paid to visit India. The return airfare to Delhi from tourist places like Delhi-Leh and Srinagar has reached as high as Rs 50,000. The experts have indicated increased fuel prices, the shutting down of GoFirst airlines, Violence-hit Manipur, the Odisha Train Accident, and summer vacations as causes of the skyrocketing air ticket prices.
