Many routes have seen a surge of four to five times the usual cost just for an economy class. In fact, the abnormal prices are burning holes in the pocket of common man. Now to just put things into perspective for the viewers. If one is planning a trip from Amritsar to Srinagar tomorrow, a one-way ticket might cost you anywhere from Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 31,000. Meanwhile, a one way trip from Delhi to Kochi may cost you between Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000. The ones who are really affected by this is the passengers. However, any relief in the near future is probably only possible if and when the tide of travel demand recedes, which is probably only possible after this year's busiest travel season throughout the summer. Longer-term price stability and affordability will be influenced by a number of additional variables, such as the trajectory of travel demand, the rate at which airlines are adding capacity, the price of jet fuel, and other cost centres. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. “If airlines are not complying with advisory of the Aviation ministry, then next level of action should be taken,” stated Ashwini Kakkar, Managing Partner, Indventure.
