The event occurred as the youngster, a class 2 student, was walking to school with his father. In reaction, an enraged mob set fire to a police truck and a motorbike and looted numerous buses. According to witnesses, the event occurred at 7 a.m. while the father-son combo was crossing the street. While the infant died on the scene after being hit by a truck, the father was critically injured and was taken to the hospital. Locals refused to hand over the corpse to police, blaming them for delay and incompetence.
