India celebrates the historic achievement of Sift Kaur Samra, the 22-year-old Indian shooter who won India's first individual gold medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the Asian Games 2023. Samra, who gave up her medical studies to pursue shooting, showed remarkable skill and composure as she shattered the world record by 2.6 points and beat the Chinese rival by a huge margin of 7.3 points. Samra also ended India’s 37-year-long wait for a medal in the women’s 3P category. She was joined by Ashi Chouksey, who won the bronze medal and ensured India’s first double podium finish in the event.
