In Nagarathpet, Hindu activists and BJP employees assembled and began performing "Hanuman Chalisa" while police attempted to apprehend Mukhesh, the victim, who owned a mobile shop. Suresh Kumar, a BJP MLA, questioned the police and denounced their actions, asking why they were detaining the victim. MLA Suresh Kumar pulled in front of the police car and protested violently when the cops refused to back down and attempted to take him away.
