Karmelo Anthony’s spokesman went on Newsmax to claim racism influenced the murder conviction and 35-year sentence—but his legal arguments quickly fell apart.
In this reaction, Nate breaks down Dominique Alexander’s defense of Karmelo Anthony, the evidence presented at trial, and the major problem with claiming that carrying a legal knife somehow justified using deadly force.
The prosecution called 21 witnesses, while even testimony connected to the defense reportedly undermined the self-defense argument. Anthony was repeatedly asked to leave the tent, remained during the confrontation, and ultimately stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metcalf in the chest.
This is not about whether Texas recognizes self-defense or stand-your-ground protections. The real legal question is whether deadly force was reasonably justified under the circumstances. When pressed on the evidence, the witnesses, and why Anthony brought a knife to the track meet, the family spokesman struggled to provide direct answers.
