After the Trump administration carried out the deportation of 250 alleged gang members to El Salvador on March 16, the president spoke to the press on the matter while aboard Air Force One. Trump stated, “These were bad people. That was a bad group of, as I say, hombres... look at the crimes they've committed. You take a look... You don't get worse than that.”

According to the handout from the El Salvador presidency, many of the deportees were tied to the Tren De Aragua gang with around 20 being tied to the MS-13 gang.
