$124 million in North America even more than that overseas, for a worldwide total of $264 million in ticket sales in just three days. Filmmaker Christopher Nolan has long championed the theatrical experience, and by making "The Odyssey" entirely on IMAX cameras — a Hollywood first — he’s evidently given audiences a reason to leave their couches.
A galaxy of stars and near-unanimous critical raves clearly helped, as did exit polls — four out of five "Odyssey" patrons said they would “definitely recommend the film to a friend.”
