0:26Now PlayingOceanX was able to capture that special moment with researcher Anne Helene Tandberg, from the University Museum of Bergen, on our recent mission in Norway. Almost 150 years prior to our expedition, Norwegian scientists collected data and discovered new species in the North Sea which was groundbreaking. One catch though was the researchers at the time couldn't go down and see the deep-sea habitats they were studying and collecting samples from. Thanks to the subsea technology on OceanXplorer, we were able to revisit those historic sites and see first hand the ecosystem that those science pioneers studied all those years ago.
