Jay Z NFL, Antonio Brown, Andrew Luck, SEC Network, CBS Viacom

On today's Outkick the Show, Clay Travis discussed Jay Z joining the NFL, Antonio Brown on Hard Knocks, Andrew Luck's health, the SEC Network turns 5 years old, and the CBS - Viacom deal.

On the Jay Z - NFL deal, Clay Travis said, "NFL hires Jay-Z, who immediately tells the Wall Street Journal that if the next Colin Kaepernick situation happens “maybe it doesn’t have to take place on the field.” Brilliant strategic move by NFL to hire ultimate black capitalist & businessman to argue protesting in games is just bad business.

Clay Travis went on to congratulate Antonio Brown for getting frostbite during the hottest month in the history of France. AB and the Raiders are the featured team for this season of Hard Knocks, and the recently-aired second episode revealed some of head coach Jon Gruden’s frustration regarding wide receiver AB’s absence. “I’m not optimistic about Brown’s future with the Raiders, and the Steelers are laughing all the way to the bank.”Clay then discussed Andrew Luck and his bad luck, this time with an ankle injury that appears to be more serious than previously reported.  The first three games for the Colts are pretty tough, and without Luck they might have a bad season.Clay also commented on the SEC Network and their 5-year anniversary being celebrated today. The network has been a phenomenal success and has fundamentally changed what people have believed about what a college sports network is capable of. It’s now earning around $15 million per school, per year. When the University of Texas unveiled its Longhorn Network, everyone anticipated it becoming a massive success, but the every school in the SEC is making more money from their network than the UT in Austin is making from their’s.Finally, Clay talked about the merger between CBS and Viacom, and is of the opinion it is utterly interesting from a business perspective. While we don’t know what will ultimately happen, said Travis, it will likely get even bigger and how it relates to the SEC and the SEC game of the week will be of particular interest.
