Michael Beloff opens by congratulating the president on holding this debate exactly 50 years after women we're allowed to join the Oxford Union Society. He goes on to extensively talk about the process that lead to women being admitted to the union during the time that he was president along with some amusing anecdotes. He then concludes by introducing the first speaker of the debate, Rachel Johnson.
