A celebrated diplomat and former Director General for Human Rights in the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Fernández was elected as a judge of the ICC in 2009. She served as President of the ICC from March 2015 to March 2018 focusing her efforts on enhancing the Court's effectiveness through cooperation with the broader legal community.
